The New WhatsApp Feature Nobody Told You About

If you're still typing "@" and manually tagging every single person in your group chat one by one, you need to see this.

WhatsApp just rolled out a small but genuinely useful update to group chats that most people haven't noticed yet — and a couple of other tweaks that make managing groups way less stressful.

1. The "@all" Tag — Tag Everyone in One Shot

Instead of tagging each member individually (which nobody actually does, so half the group misses important messages), you can now type @all in any group chat and it notifies everyone at once.

This is huge for:

Admins of church, school, or community groups sending important announcements

Business owners running customer or team groups

Anyone tired of scrolling to tag 40 people one by one

2. Polls Just Got Smarter

Group polls now come with three upgrades:

End time — set a deadline so voting automatically closes

Hide voter names — useful for sensitive questions (salary surveys, sensitive group decisions, etc.)

Edit within 15 minutes — fix a typo or add an option without deleting and restarting the whole poll

3. Start a New Group From an Existing One

You can now spin off a brand new group using members from an existing group as your starting point — no more manually re-adding the same 20 people every time you want to create a spinoff group (like moving from a big community group to a smaller planning committee).

Why This Matters for You

If you run any kind of group — church, business, school alumni, side hustle team — these updates aren't flashy, but they solve real daily headaches. The @all tag alone could save you from those "I didn't see the message" excuses for good.

Have you tried @all yet? Let me know in the comments if it worked for your group.
