ABSTRACT
The study was aimed at examining the role of
female’s education in nation building, lafia inspectorate area of ministry of
education in Nasarawa state was used as a case study Between December 2016 to
June, 2017. Using a sample –sized population of women in lafia, Nasarawa state
to achieve the objectives of the researcher. Questionnaires were sensed on the sample size population of the women,
which was one hundred (100) in lafia. Nasarawa state to obtain data. Result
obtained indicated that women both young and old were encouraged to acquired
education and has been able to help in the development of the economy
especially in the area of health, and social efficiency as well as the
industrial sector as their contribution to nation building. It was also found
that the women were not however properly mobilized for proper action by the
government and that the level of public awareness to get the women acquainted need
to be increased, it was also noted that some of the hindrance of female’s
education was due to teenage pregnancy, religious belief, acute poverty
and early marriage etc. I addition to that, it was also evident that female’s
education have been playing vital role in nation building and women have
developed a new love for education and they can no longer be separated.
Conclusively, the roles played by the women in nation building cannot be
ignored and should not be denied as their effort and contribution also
determine to a great extent the level of growth of the nation. To become a
developed economic, both men and women folks have a great role to play simultaneously.

INTRODUCTION
Waste
is any substance, solution mixture or article for which no direct use is
envisaged but which is transported for processing, eliminating by incineration
or other methods of disposal (Elizabeth et al, 2002).
With
urban industrialization, social development and population increases solid
waste product are growing rapidly ,making pollution a serious problem if not properly disposed and
managed ,the resulting environmental impart
from these waste can be disastrous (Collee
et al.,2015).
Waste
dumping in Nasarawa state polytechnic, Lafia cut across approved and non
approved dump sites. Compositions of these dumpsites are generated from student
hostels, schools clinics, offices etc.
Saprophytic
bacteria are those bacteria that do not develop in the living organism and feed
on the waste generated within it. E.g pseudomonas
spp (Marnet, 2013).
Soil
contains varieties of microorganism including bacteria that can be established
in any natural environment. These are very small unicellular, primitive and
non-chlorophyll containing microorganism (Folia, 2013)
An
enzymatic activity of one bacterium differs from another bacterium (Collee et
al 2001).
For
reducing microbial population, 1g of soil was dissolve in 10ml of sterile distilled
water to make suspension. Serial distilled was carried out for getting isolated
single colony. In this research, nutrient medium was used for bacterial growth.
The
gram stain result is the primary bit of information for identifying bacteria.
In gram stain procedure the isolated bacteria are smeared and heat fixed onto a
slide, then in sequence crystal violet (a purple dye), iodine, alcohol and
safranin (a red dye) are applied, the slide is dried and viewed by light
microscope at high power (X100 or X40). Gram positive cells retain the first
purple dye and are thus purple; gram negative cells do not retain the first dye
and take up the last dye, which is red, so they are red or pink (Gibbon, 1998
et al).
The
pathogens present in the waste can leach out and contaminate the environment.
But microorganisms play an important role in the industries for various applications
(Girolette, 1993).
In
order to know the different types of bacteria present in a different refuse
dump sites within the ecosystem called Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia,
serial dilution was carried out for getting an isolated single colony and
nutrient and mac conkey medium was used for bacterial growth and gram staining
was carried out to identify difference gram positive and gram-negative bacteria
in difference refuse sites within the ecosystem called Nasarawa State
Polytechnic, Lafia.
